Universal Pictures’ Glass is expected to earn $70 to $75 million in its domestic opening weekend, according to Variety. That would be over triple its reported $20m budget.
Glass opens January 18 in North America, which is the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend. A $70-$75m domstic debut would make it the second-highest grossing domestic MLK Jr. opening weekend ever, behind 2015’s American Sniper ($107m) but ahead of Ride Along ($48m).
This is M. Night Shyamalan’s third film in the “Eastrail 177” series, which includes Unbreakable and Split. Those two films ended up earming $248.1m and $278m, respectively.
