3-Time SPIDER-MAN Screenwriter ALVIN SARGENT Dies at Age 92

Screenwriter Alvin Sargent died at age 92 due to natural causes, according to Deadline.

For comic book fans, Sargent is best known for writing 2004’s Spider-Man 2, 2007’s Spider-Man 3, and 2012’s Amazing Spider-Man. Those were his last scripts to be filmed to date.

Sargent won Oscar awards for writing the films Ordinary People and Julia, and was nominated for Paper Moon. In 1991, the screenwriter was honored with the Writer’s Guild of America’s Laurel Award for Screenwriting achievement.
“When I die, I’m going to have written on my tombstone, ‘Finally a plot,'” Sargent reportedly said prior to his death.

Sargent is survived by three daughters, several grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. In lieu of flowers, Sargent’s family is asking for contributons to Stand Up to Cancer.
