POWER PACK returns in new one-shot by Louise Simonson, June Brigman, and Gurihiru

DC Originals The Flash T-Shirt

Alex and Julie Power are already set to return as part of the newly-announced Future Foundation series. If that’s not enough for you Packrats (is that what Power Pack fans are called?), the rest of the family are joining them for a new Power Pack one-shot this August. Power Pack: Grow Up! #1 brings the Power family together with X-Men staples Wolverine and Kitty Pryde for an adventure against The Brood.

The new one-shot features a lineup of creators who are no strangers to the classic ’80s team. The issue’s main story reunites Power Pack’s creators, writer Louise Simonson and artist June Brigman. A back-up feature will be written by Simonson, with art by the team known as Gurihiru, who drew a 2005 Power Pack miniseries with writer Marc Sumerak.

Based on the issue’s cover, it looks like this issue may be a throwback tale, as Logan and Kitty appear to be wearing older costumes, and Alex and Julie both appear younger than they do in the preview art for Future Foundation. Check out the cover to the new one-shot, as well as the full text of the announcement, below. Power Pack: Grow Up! #1 is due in stores at the end of August.

Power Pack: Grow Up! #1

New York, NY—May 14, 2019—Acclaimed creators Louise Simonson and June Brigman are bringing an all-new special story to the Marvel Universe this August, as POWER PACK’s young super heroes set the stage for an adventurous, thrilling ride!

Power Pack jumps into action when the Brood crash a concert, but it’s a race against time as they battle the invasion against their own anxieties, as well as each other, in hopes of saving the world. Join Alex, Julie, Katie, and Jack Power and special guests Wolverine and Kitty Pryde for an incredible new adventure! Plus, don’t miss fan-favorite artist Gurihiru teaming up with Louise Simonson for the first time in a special short story!

“I remember the joy I felt reading Power Pack #1 when it was first published, and the sadness of hitting the last page of the final issue of their original run, so it’s a thrill to be able to reunite Louise and June to tell untold tales with Alex, Julie Jack and Katie from that time period,” shared Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski. “And to also have Gurihiru contributing a story bridges these two acclaimed generations of Power family fun, making this a perfect project to commemorate Marvel’s 80th Anniversary!”
