What’s inside the new wave of DC GIANTS coming to comic shops?

DC Originals The Flash T-Shirt

The new wave of DC Giants is coming to comic shops, and the publisher has now given readers a clearer picture of what’s inside.

Full information about these comics — which are the same ones that first launched some time ago at mass-market retailers like Wal-Mart and Target — can be found through Previews, seeing as they are now headed to comics shops. What is perhaps most notable is the publisher seems to be moving away from multi-part original content within these things. When they were first coming out as Wal-Mart exclusives, DC had top-tier creative teams (Brian Bendis and Nick Derrington, Tom King and Andy Kubert, etc.), telling sweeping 10-part stories with characters like Batman and Superman.

Still, all of these new comics have fresh original content, along with a mix of reprint tales, making them quite the value at a price point of $4.99. If the idea is to keep putting out accessible entry points to convoluted superhero stories for young and new readers, it’s easy to see how these could get that done.

Personally — and I’m surprised to be typing this — I think the Villain book looks the coolest, what with original stories from these teams: Mark Russell and Viktor Bogdanovich, Tom Taylor and Daniel Sampere, and Gail Simone and Priscilla Petraites. Plus a Riley Rossmo cover? I’m in. Another cool thing is that in the DC Ghost Giant, there’s a story written by John Layman and illustrated by Andy Clarke, both of whom have been making some stellar creator-owned comics as of late.

Anyway, more info about each can be found below:
