Female-Fronted ZORRO Show in Development for CBS

A female-fronted live-action <strong>Zorro</strong> reboot is in development at CBS, as first reported by <em><a href="">Deadline</a></em>.

<em>Magnum P.I.</em>'s Alfredo Barrios Jr. is developing this new <strong>Zorro</strong> revamp as part of a first-look production deal between the film company Propagate and CBS.

"<strong>Zorro</strong>, written and executive produced by Barrios Jr., is a modern-day retelling of the Zorro mythology that follows Z, a female descendant of the warrior bloodline who will go to great lengths to protect the defenseless in her community," reads hye Hollywood trade's description of the show.

The prose-based superhero Zorro has appeared in numerous film and TV adaptations, including a previous one at CBS - a short-lived <em>Zorro &amp; Son</em> series in 1983.

A 1994 Republic film serial, <em>Zorro's Black Whip</em>, featured a woman - actor Linda Stirling - in the lead role, albiet called the Black Whip. Decades later, Dynamite Entertainment's <em>Lady Zorro</em> featured a female version of Zorro as well.
