Dark Horse Comics' Cara Niece has retired after 27 years as the company's VP of Production and Scheduling. In that role, Niece was in charge of much of the comics company, including the Design, Scheduling, Routing, and Production departments.

"I've spent 27 years in comics, and I feel like Dark Horse is my second home," Niece told Newsarama. "It has some of the most wonderful people I've ever met in my life, and I consider them family. This feeling extends to all of the people in the comic industry that I've encountered along the way. They have embraced me and touched my life in a beautiful way."

Although she is retiring from the comic book company, she will remain involved in the Portland-area art scene.

"I didn't make the decision to retire lightly, but I'm excited to pursue my dream of opening art studios and helping Portland-area artists develop their skills in a creatively fulfilling environment," she said.

Niece is <a href="https://www.newsarama.com/47728-dark-horse-promotes-vanessa-todd-holmes-to-vp-of-production-scheduling.html">succeeded by Vanessa Todd-Holmes</a>, who was formally named to the VP of Productiona and Scheduling role earlier this week.
