Grand Blue to Dive Into a Live Action Movie Adaptation!

Popular diving manga Grand Blue will be heading to the big screen next summer with a live action movie directed by Hanabusa Tsutomu!

Originally written by Inoue Kenji with illustrations by Yoshioka Kimitake, the series follows college student Kitahara Iori, as he relocates to Izu Peninsula and begins staying above Grand Blue, his uncle’s diving shop. However, life isn’t all coastal views and sunbathing; in fact, he soon finds himself caught up in antics of the the local diving club.

Hanabusa is no stranger to the world of live action, having directed numerous movies based on popular franchises like Kakegurui – Compulsive Gambler and Real Girl, with an adaptation of Eizouken ni wa Te o Dasu na! also set to premiere next year.

The live action Grand Blue movie is slated to open in summer 2020.
